Anyone can call themselves a writer – I do – that’s what makes it an awesome, yet problematic occupation. I’ve spent most of my life writing to one extent or another, whether it’s short stories, screenplays, the infamous “first novel”, blogs, essays, articles and on occasions games.
My day job for over three years now has been within the digital marketing sphere and the many elements this involves. SEO consultant by title, I’ve been working mostly in SEM, from Search Engine Optimisation, Content Marketing, Social Media Optimisation, Pay Per Click campaigns, Analytics – oh, and still writing – a lot! We’ve got to wear many hats to succeed online and I’m always on the lookout for new hats to add to my collection.
What feels like another lifetime ago I studied for 5(ish) years at university in film, literature and the media in general. The sum of this? A BA (2.1) and an MA (merit) accompanied with a love of narrative, analytical skills and a critical approach. Constantly hungry for new challenges with a mind like a sponge. Throughout this entire time I wrote, blogged and built websites on the side – it’s been this weird combination which has got me where I am today – for better or worse!
